(KMOV) – The St. Louis County Health Department will offer free Whooping Cough vaccines to people 11 years old and older on Wednesday.

The vaccines will be disbursed at John C. Murphy Health Center, located at 6121 N. Hanley Rd. in Berkeley, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Officials say Whooping Cough, also known as pertussis, is a highly-contagious disease that can be fatal in some cases.

Another free clinic will be held on Monday at the South County Health Center in the 4500 block of S. Lindbergh Boulevard in Sunset Hills. The shots will be given out from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The vaccine that will be provided at the free vaccination clinics is Tdap, a mixture that will protect those receiving protection not only from pertussis, but from tetanus and diphtheria as well.

For more information about the free vaccination clinics, visit the St. Louis County Health Department’s website.
