(KMOV.com) -- A new warning was issued Tuesday about a stimulant used to treat attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder.

The FDA says the drug, called methylphenidate, can trigger painful and long-lasting erections in some rare cases.

Methylphenidate is found in Ritalin, Concerta and Daytrana.

The FDA urges patients to talk to their doctor before halting the drugs.
