Wood River - Madison County Health Department in Illinois has received a limited amount of H1N1 vaccine in the nasal spray formulation.? The nasal spray is primarily for use by people who are 2-24 years old who are healthy and non-pregnant.? People with asthma, diabetes, or any other chronic disease cannot receive the nasal spray vaccine formulation.

Madison County Health Department will be offering a free H1N1 nasal spray vaccine walk-in clinic on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the Madison County Health Department, 101 E. Edwardsville Road, Wood River, IL for people who are 2-24 years old, healthy, non-pregnant, and who have no chronic disease (e.g. asthma, diabetes, etc.).

?"Additional flu vaccine will arrive in the coming weeks to help accommodate vaccinating people in the designated priority groups set by the CDC," states Toni Corona, Public Health Administrator.? "We encourage everyone to watch for notice of future vaccination clinics and continue to follow the 3 C's - Clean, Cover, and Contain.? Clean means wash your hands frequently.? Cover means to cover your mouth and nose when you cough and sneeze and throw away your tissues.? Contain means to stay at home if you're sick or keep your children home if they are sick.? Follow the 24-hour rule to be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicines before returning to work or school."?
