(KMOV) -- Freshmen at Hazelwood Central High School will be among the first in the St. Louis area to receive the H1N1 flu vaccine. The St. Louis County health department provided 1,000 doses of the vaccine to the Hazelwood district.
The Hazelwood students will be getting a nasal mist version of the vaccine today.
A student needs a consent form signed by their parents or guardians to get the vaccine.
The health department is still investigating whether H1N1 contributed to the death of Hazelwood Central student Asia Moore last month.
The vaccine has already been given to kindergarteners and first graders at Brown Elementary.
The Rockwood district begins H1N1 vaccinations on October 24, and the Wentzville district starts on October 31.
In Jefferson County, Missouri, the health department says it has used all of its seasonal flu vaccines and does not anticipate receiving any more doses.
The county has already distributed doses of the H1N1 vaccine to doctors at the Regional Health Center.
H1N1 vaccines for the public will begin on October 22, in Hillsboro for patients who are considered high risk.
