OVERLAND, Mo. (KMOV) – Police have arrested a woman after she hit an oncoming vehicle while driving in the wrong direction on Interstate 170 early Wednesday morning.

Police say the female suspect was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 170 near Page Avenue, when she clipped a vehicle just before 1 a.m. Three people were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries due to the impact.

According to reports, the suspect did not stop after striking the first vehicle, continuing to drive the wrong way. She was later stopped and taken into custody by St. Johns police.

Police said fog may have been a big cause in the suspect intially losing control of the vehicle.

Authorities have not released any information about the female suspect. Charges could be filed later Wednesday.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
