ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Witnesses say a car exiting Interstate 55 lost control, jumped a guardrail, then slammed into the front steps of a house in south St. Louis on Sunday evening.
The crash happened on northbound I-55 at the Loughborough exit around 7:30 p.m.
Witnesses say the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred. Residents reportedly held one of the car's occupants until police arrived, but another person fled the scene on foot.
Last July, a 17-month-old girl was killed in a crash at the same intersection. At that time, city officials took steps they said would slow down drivers exiting the highway.
