(KMOV.com) –  The riots that have been taking place in Ferguson since Sunday night have come in the aftermath of the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, Jr.

Brown was shot and killed by a police officer in the 2900 block of Canfield Drive Saturday. Following the shooting, crowds began to gather around his body. Eventually, protests began to form in the area.

Crowds began to gather near Ferguson Police Headquarters Saturday night into Sunday morning where. That led to a series of what were supposed to be peaceful vigils Sunday night. Around 8:00 p.m. Sunday, crowds near the intersection of West Florissant and Ferguson Avenue began to yell, scream and demand action.

Over the next several hours, angry crowds turned into mobs. Looters smashed windows and stole items from the QuikTrip station in the 9000 block of West Florissant. Looters eventually set the convenience store on fire.

The looting continued along West Florissant. By 11:00 p.m. Sunday, looters smashed into a Wal Mart store near I-270, smashed windows an Autozone store, and a Toys ‘R US located nearly two miles away.

At least 10 businesses were left ruined, looted, and wrecked.

32 people were arrested for looting Sunday night. St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McColloch said 10 of those suspects are now facing felony burglary charges.
