(KMOV.com) -- A St. Louis man was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to a 2012 attack reportedly related to the knockout game.
Edward Townsend allegedly struck a 30-year-old man in the head in the 4600 block of McPherson Avenue around 10 p.m. on March 4, 2012.
“Right when he was getting ready to pass me, he punched me in my left temple,” the victim, who wished to remain unidentified, said.
Townsend was reportedly walking with a group of teens when he hit the victim. The victim yelled for help and police officers were able to apprehend the teens.
Townsend was sentenced to the maximum one year term. The sentencing was originally set for 9 a.m., and several Central West End residents showed up. According to the Circuit Attorney's Office, Townsend and his attorney were not present, so the sentencing was rescheduled for 1:30p.m.. Reportedly all the residents who showed up in the morning were there for the afternoon sentencing
