Police in St. Louis are using some savvy social media tactics to crackdown on seatbelt use.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has been tweeting about the crackdown using hashtags #buckleup and #arrivealive. The new tactics have been used to implore drivers to change their behavior.

In the past, Missouri has significantly lagged behind the national average for people who wear seatbelts.

That’s made it especially troubling for police because it can have such an impact on safety. A big percentage of fatal accidents involved victims who were not wearing seatbelts.
