(KMOV.com) -- St. Louis runners met Saturday morning to show solidarity with those who were injured and killed in the Boston Marathon bombings.

More than 500 people met at the Forest Park Vistor and Education Center for the St. Louis Unity Run for Boston.

GO! St. Louis and The St. Louis Track Club held a ceremony at 10 a.m. to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Following the ceremony, a 1.6-mile casual run started at 10:30 a.m.

The event was free and open to the public. St. Louis Unity Run for Boston shirts were sold at the event.

Donations to the official "One Fund" were collected at the run.

Organizers encourage runners to wear blue and yellow to show their support.
