St. Louis County municipalities hold another amnesty day

( --  St. Louisans with misdemeanor warrants have the opportunity to move past their issues and clean their records on Wednesday.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Area Amnesty Project is in its third year at the St. Louis Community College Meramec campus.

Participants will be assessed a $10 processing fee to cover all warrant vouchers and St. Louis Community College representatives will be on hand to discuss educational opportunities.

The program at STLCC will be conducted over two more days days, and will allow individuals to resolve outstanding warrants with more than 33 city and county municipalities at three campuses from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Wednesday's amnesy program is being held at the Florissant Valley campus is the 3400 block of Pershall Rd. 

Another amnesty day is scheduled for Saturday at the Mildred E. Bastian Center for the Performing Arts at the Forest Park campus in the 5600 Oakland Ave.

“We’re very excited about this program. Everyone deserves a second chance,” said Aaron Jimenez, police chief of St. Ann, who also represented  the North County Police Chiefs Association.

The Amnesty Project is part of Better Family Life’s annual Family Week. Their goal is “Back to the Basics - Faith, Family and Neighborhood.”

“We believe that the family is the single-most important unit that makes up society, and we are dedicated to finding internal solutions to the ills, to the obstacles and conditions that plague our neighborhoods,” said James Clark, Better Family Life’s vice president of community outreach. “We are dedicated to changing families through empowering individuals.”

The Child Support Warrant Relief program will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17; Wednesday, Aug. 21, and Saturday, Aug. 31, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Better Family Life Cultural Business and Education Center, 5415 Page Blvd.
