(KMOV.com) –  St. Louis police say the city is now a “no refusal zone,” a move they hope will reduce the number of deaths and injuries related to drunk driving.

Police will automatically apply for a search warrant to draw blood if a drunk driver refuses a breathalyzer test.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson and city circuit attorney Jennifer Joyce say that too many drunk drivers are skirting the system by refusing to take a breath test. By refusing the test it makes it harder for law enforcement to build a case against a suspected drunk driver.
