(KMOV) – St. Clair County is expanding its employee drug testing policy in the wake of a drug scandal involving several county officials.

This new policy comes after the drug overdose death of Circuit Judge Joe Crist and the federal indictment of former judge Michael Cook on cocaine and weapons charges which both were a blow to the county’s creditability.

The policy will include elected officials, as well as all county employees that are involved with confidential records, administer drug tests or work directly with students.

The new drug testing policy will not include judges because they are in a different branch of government.
