ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ill. (KMOV) -- A Republican candidate for judge in St. Clair county claims that the Democratic candidate for congress shoved her at a parade.
Associate Judge Laninya Cason attended the O’fallon High School homecoming parade on Saturday wearing a sweatshirt supporting GOP congressional candidate Jason Plummer.
Cason said she was handing out material promoting her campaign to be circuit judge when Democratic congressional candidate Bill Enyart shoved her, then stepped in front of her to pass out his own campaign flyers.
Now Cason says she wants an apology.
“I also demand an apology from Mr. Enyart for assaulting me and from his campaign manager Jason Bresler for lying about the incident,” Cason said Monday.
But Bresler, Enyart’s campaign manager, said it was an accident.
“At one point they may have bumped into one another and the general, and other witnesses have said he immediately apologized,” Bresler said. “There was literally no push that happened.”
The O’Fallon Police Department said it is investigating the incident.
