ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A St. Charles man is facing multiple charges after police allege he strangled a 4-month-old child in his home.
According to reports, Jordan L. Prince, 24, was charged with first degree endangering the welfare of a child and second degree murder on Thursday.
Police said on Monday, Prince was watching the victim at his home in the 3600 block of Fremont.
Prince told authorities he became angry when Peters would not stop crying. He said he choked her and left her on a couch while the mother slept in another room.
A while later, Prince checked on Peters and reported that she was unresponsive. She was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to Cardinal Glennon Hospital where she died the next day.
According to results of an autopsy, the infant’s cause of death was asphyxiation.
Prince is currently in jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.
Police said Prince is not married to the mother and is not Peter's father.
