ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) –- Lake St Louis Police chased down a suspected ring of shoplifters they say may be responsible for crimes in two counties.

Two suspects were caught after a chase that ended along Highway 40 at Mason Road on Friday afternoon. Police say one suspect ran out of his stolen car and tried to carjack another motorist. Officers used a Taser to stop the suspect, then took him into custody.

Police say four others were caught outside the Von Maur store in Lake St Louis, after they were spotted by a security guard. According to police, a car carrying three suspects collided with a patrol car in the parking lot. No one was hurt.

Police Chief Michael Force says he believes the group is behind two separate thefts at the Victoria’s Secret store and one at the Nike Store in Lake St Louis.

He says police in St. Peters and Chesterfield are also interested in the suspects for similar crimes.
