BUNKER, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Authorities say two young children died in a house fire in Reynolds County early Saturday morning.

The fire reportedly started at a home near Highway 72 in Bunker, Mo. around 1:30 a.m.

Reynolds County Sheriff Tom Volner told KFVS-TV six people were in the house when the fire broke out. A woman and three children were able to escape the home, but a 3-month-old boy and 2-year-old boy died in the blaze.

Volner said the woman was babysitting the two boys at the time of the fire. The surviving children were reportedly treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Officials have not released details on their individual conditions.

Neighbors said they tried to get the two boys out of the house, but were unable to reach their rooms.

The home is reportedly a total loss. No word yet on what may have caused the fire.

The town of Bunker is located about two and a half hours southwest of St. Louis.
