Several people and dogs were evacuated by firefighters after a fire broke out in south St. Louis on Thursday.

Officials say the fire started  gazebo in the 2600 block of Arsenal sometime before 9 a.m.

Capt. Gregg Favre with the St. Louis Fire Department said crews responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze.

Residents in a nearby one-story home with vinyl siding were evacuated and put in fire trucks to warm up.

Authorities believe the fire was caused by an alternative heat source installed in the gazebo.
