Scott Air Force Base soldiers assist in South Sudan

(KMOV.com) – According to the Belleville News Democrat, soldiers from Scott Air Force Base are assisting in South Sudan.

The News Democrat reports that member of the C-17 stationed at Scott Air Force Base were in Africa when fighting broke out between Americans and rebel forces. The unit helped the only Americans injured in the fighting thus far.

There are currently about 150 Marines ready to enter South Sudan if given the military order. They will also assist in evacuating Americans throughout the area and provide security the US Embassy.
