GRANITE CITY, Mo. (KMOV) – A woman and two children were hospitalized after the car they were in slammed into a semi truck in Granite City on Thursday.
Authorities said a woman was driving a car with two children inside when she struck a semi truck turning left near the intersection of Route 3 and Northgate Industrial Drive around 2 p.m.
A witness told News 4 they had to use the jaws of life to extract two small children - an infant and a toddler - from the car. That information was not confirmed by authorities.
The children were taken to the hospital for precautionary measures.
A woman who was driving the car was airlifted to the hospital with what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
All lanes of southbound Route 3 were closed while crews worked to clear the scene.
