(KMOV.com) – A Ritenour High School student was charged with bringing a gun to school.

Police say on Dec. 11 a teacher at the school noticed 18-year-old Ryan Walker was carrying a gun while taking him to the principal's officer for a separate infraction.

Walker was taken directly to the school resource officer and he was arrested. Breckenridge HIlls police picked Walker up and took him into custody.

He was later charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

The Ritenour School District sent out a mass telephone message to parents around 5 p.m. that evening.

Walker is currently suspended and faces expulsion.
