KIRKWOOD (KMOV.com) - Kirkwood residents opposed to a gas station being built in their neighborhood are celebrating on Friday.
The Kirkwood City Council voted to deny a permit to U-Gas for property located in the 900 block of North Kirkwood Road. That piece of land was once occupied by a car dealership.
Many nearby residents opposed the idea of a 24-hour gas station and liquor store opening at that intersection.
"They felt it was really going to cause a safety issue, traffic issue, noise issue and lighting issue," said Jennifer Radman, a resident opposed to the gas station. "We're just hoping that U-gas and Dirt Cheap which are the same company pick a different location."
There is no word on what will happen to the property.
