(KMOV) –A pregnant woman and her unborn child were stabbed following a dispute in a truck stop parking lot in Pulaski County.

According to police, a pregnant woman, 30, was rushed to an area hospital after a man stabbed her in the stomach Wednesday morning.

She underwent a cesarean section and delivered her baby who was also suffering from a stab wound.

Police say the suspect, Mark Downing, 28, got into a domestic dispute with the pregnant victim in the parking lot of Road Ranger Truck Stop when he allegedly stabbed her.

Authorities say Downing was taken into custody moments after getting into an altercation with Pulaski County Deputies at the scene of the stabbing.

The newborn and the female victim are reportedly listed in good condition.

Downing is being held in the Pulaski County Jail on two counts of first-degree assault. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
