(KMOV) -- The St. Charles Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a robbery Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, October 29, officers responded to the rear of the 200 block of N. Main Street in St. Charles in reference to a robbery.

According to authorities, the victim had just parked her vehicle after purchasing cigarettes at a nearby gas station when she was robbed by an unknown suspect.

The suspect, who was unarmed, approached the victim as she exited her vehicle and demanded all of her money.  He then grabbed her purse and threw the victim to the ground.

The purse fell to the ground and the suspect grabbed the victim’s wallet and fled the area.

The victim told officers that she recognized the suspect as the person that stood behind her in line at the gas station where she had purchased cigarettes just ten minutes before.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s-30’s, around 6’ feet tall with a medium build, and dreadlock style hair.  The suspect was last seen wearing a green sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
