(KMOV) – Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Florissant bank Thursday afternoon.

Authorities said a man walked into the Regions Bank in the 1100 block of Shackelford around 1 p.m.

Police said the lone male suspect entered the bank, displayed a handgun, and announced the robbery to the bank tellers.

He used his hand to cover a portion of his face during the robbery, then fled on foot southbound on Shackelford with an undetermined amount of currency. No one was hurt during the incident.

Police later thought they had the suspect cornered at a hotel when a tip led them to the First Western Inn in East St. Louis.

After searching the area, police determined he was not on scene and remains at large.

The suspect was described as a black male, medium build, 20’s, approximately 5’6”-5’8” tall with short cut hair.

He was wearing a dark colored coat, a coral or pink colored dress shirt, and a tie with white stripes. The suspect had a black bag on hanging from his shoulder and had glasses on at the time of the robbery. He was also carrying an umbrella.
