ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV) – Police are investigating a nursing home in St. Louis County after they say an 82-year-old woman had to be hospitalized due to alleged abuse.

Police said the victim was living at the St. John’s Place nursing home in St. John when she was admitted to DePaul Hospital on June 2.

St. John Police said they were contacted by the victim’s daughter after she noticed bruises on the woman’s abdomen and other parts of the body.

The victim spent at least two days in the hospital, according to police.

Police said they have launched a criminal investigation into the St. Johns Place facility. Detectives said they have spoken to some people at the home, but they haven’t been able to track down everyone they would like to question.

There have been no arrests in the case.

News 4 has talked to another family who believes their relative was abused at the home.

It's also been discovered that three wrongful-death lawsuits have been filed against St. John's Place over the past couple years.

News 4 tried to contact management at St. John’s Place, but they did not respond. The Missouri Department of Aging is also not commenting.

News 4's Matt Sczesny will have all the updated information coming up tonight on Channel 4 at 5 p.m. and KMOV.com.
