ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Police say a shoplifter lead officers on a dangerous, high-speed chase that damaged two squad cars and ended on a rural St. Francois County road Friday night.

Police responded to reports of a 33-year-old woman shoplifting at the Desloge Walmart around 5 p.m. An officer reportedly spotted the suspect's vehicle and followed her onto Highway 67.

The female suspect then reportedly lead police on a chase into Jefferson County, reaching speeds up to 90 miles per hour. Officials said Highway Patrol troopers laid down spike strips, but failed to stop the suspect.

Police say the suspect's vehicle later struck two squad cars, but no one was reportedly injured in the chase.

The pursuit ended on rural Crow Lane, according to police. The female suspect was taken into custody and will remain in St. Franois County Jail pending charges.

Officials said the woman faces charges of misdemeanor stealing, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, resisting by fleeing, and excessive speed.

The shoplifted items were reportedly worth less than $100.
