ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Two elderly men were victims of apparently related attacks in the Central West End last Friday, authorities say.
In both cases, the men told police they were blindsided and punched in the face near the intersection of Newstead and Lindell around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 18.
Police say a 73-year-old man was walking at night when a suspect approached and punched him above his right eye. The victim described the suspect as a 5'7" black male in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a dark wool cap, dark jacket and possibly a gray sweater.
The second victim, a 77-year-old man, told police he was exiting his building on Newstead when someone punched him above his left eye. In this case, the victim could not provide a description of the suspect.
Both victims suffered minor injuries and are expected to be fine, according to officials.
Police have not released further details, but say the assaults are considered related.
A police investigation into the attacks is ongoing.
