PINE LAWN, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Two thieves were caught red-handed after stealing Christmas gifts from a Pine Lawn home Friday night, according to police.

Authorities say the men were spotted carrying a large flat screen television and several wrapped Christmas gifts around 6:45 p.m. Officers attempted to stop the men, who then fled on foot.

Officers arrested one man, but are still looking for the second suspect. Authorities say the man taken into custody has a warrant out for felony stealing.

Pine Lawn police Sgt. Steven Blakeney praised an observant officer for stopping the criminals.

"Well anytime you have somebody carrying a large flat screen on their shoulder, dressed in all black, and then the second subject carrying two bags carrying what appeared to be...wrapped Christmas presents, is going to alert any good police officer," Sgt. Blakeney said.

Sgt. Blakeney said the gifts and television have been returned to the owner. He said the family was not home at the time of the robbery.
