(KMOV) – Authorities say a suspect was hospitalized after he was shot by a police officer in north St. Louis on Friday.
According to St. Louis Metropolitan police, an officer spotted a suspect on the property of his neighbor’s residence in the 5200 block of Lexington.
Police said after a struggle over the officer’s weapon, the officer fired several shots, striking the suspect once in the hip.
Authorities said the suspect was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The officer, who was not injured, was placed on administrative leave per department policy.
