ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A 62-year-old man was arrested after allegedly shooting his way into a house during a home invasion in south St. Louis early Saturday morning.

The incident happened at a home in the 3700 block of Meramec around 1:40 a.m.

Police say the suspect, who knew the residents, went to the house but was not allowed inside. When he was refused entry, the suspect allegedly shot through the door three times and then kicked it open.

A 29-year-old female and 34-year-old man then fled the home through the back door and called 911. Another 29-year-old female reportedly struggled with the suspect inside the home, and was able to disarm him.

Authorities say the suspect fled the scene, but responding officers were able to catch the man and take him into custody.

The female victim suffered lacerations to her head and hands during the struggle with the suspect.

Police say an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
