(KMOV.com) -- Police are investigating after a gunman fired shots into a north St. Louis home, injuring two residents on Friday night.

The shooting happened in the 4200 block of Kossuth Ave. around 9:40 p.m.

Authorities said a male suspect knocked on the front window of the home, then asked a resident to have her relative come outside. The victim reportedly told the suspect her relative was not home.

The suspect then removed a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband, according to police, and fired two shots into the home. A 42-year-old woman was shot in the elbow, and a 17-year-old male was grazed in the back. Two other males inside the home were not injured.

The injured victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police described the suspect as a 6'0" to 6'2" black male, between the ages of 40 and 45, and wearing a brown hat. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
