ALTON, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- Alton police say seven teenagers were found to on the wrong side of the law this weekend, two in connection to a burglary and five more in a home invasion.

Two 16-year-olds were arrested after they were caught allegedly trying to steal from three cars on East 5th St. The juveniles were charged with vehicle burglary and unlawful use of a weapon.

Later in the weekend, police say five more 16-year-olds were arrested in connection to a home invasion on the 1st block of Holly Hill Drive. All five were charged with felony home invasion after police conducted interviews and recovered stolen property.

Police say the teens first knocked on the victim's door, then pushed their way into the house and stole a television. The victim, who reportedly knew the teens, was not injured in the incident.

Authorities said community involvement in the investigation contributed to the arrests.
