(KMOV) – Officials have temporarily repaired potholes in the 400 block of North 22nd Street in East St. Louis after local residents had been filling the holes with dirt since March.

Mayor Alvin Parks says the reason the potholes weren’t filled right away was because it would have been a major bill for the small town.

The city plans to restrip and resurface the road, however, they have not released a definite date for the repairs, only stating it would take place later this year.
