ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- A new online effort has St. Louis citizens coming up with ways to improve their city without using tax dollars.

Rally Saint Louis is described as a "crowdsourcing and crowdfunding platform," encouraging people to generate ideas and then helping them secure funding.

The website allows users to vote on ideas, ranging from a pet park in Forest Park to a "microbrewery" trolley system.

"We've always had ideas come from the top down, and it's not just St. Louis," said creator Aaron Perlut. "I think it happens in any other city, but there's a lot of great ideas on the grassroots level that haven't had the ability to rise to the top, and we've tried to create a mechanism to facilitate those ideas."

The website's founder says a new winning project will be chosen every month at RallySTL.org.
