(KMOV.com) – Imagine getting a call from a stranger threatening to arrest you, for a crime you know nothing about.

“About two weeks ago they called my phone, said ‘This is Mr. Wheeler,’ my boyfriend answered,” said Florissant resident Jamie Rose. “They said I was in trouble for check fraud,  I needed to call him back in 24 hours.”

Rose knew she couldn’t have committed a crime since she didn’t have a checking account, so she pressed for a business name and address.

After going to Google, she was unable to find the business and the address led to a street in Mexico.

Armed with that information, she told the caller to stop bothering her. That’s when the situation really got scary.
