JEFFERSON COUNTY (KMOV) -- Missouri Department of Transportation workers have been putting up new road signs along Highway FF in northern Jefferson County just outside of Eureka following a rash of crashes.

Local residents have said for years that the stretch of roadway is a problem highway.  One resident says that cars often race around corners going too fast and cross over the road’s center line to keep from losing control.

In 2010 a 20-year-old woman died when the SUV she was driving slammed head-on into a school bus along Route FF.

Just this week there was another serious accident on FF when Christie Bean, 41, from Ridgewoods, MO, lost control of her Dodge Grand Caravan, went off the side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.

News 4’s Ray Preston is talking to MoDOT officials to see what their plans are to make the road safer.
