(KMOV.com) -- The Meramec Ambulance Board is holding a meeting Wednesday night to discuss its 2014 budget.

The meeting is being held at the board's administration building, located at 3279 Highway 100 in Villa Ridge, at 5 p.m.

Meramec Ambulance covers 244 miles in parts of Franklin, Jefferson and St. Louis counties. Its staff of roughly 50 has responded to an increased number of calls each year since 2008.

The board of directors says it will not approve a deficit budget for 2014.

More than 20 thousand residents would be affected if the board has to cut ambulance service due to budget concerns.
