COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV) -- Police have identified a man whose body was found by an off-duty officer in Collinsville Wednesday night.
According to police, the officer was jogging near the intersection of Belt Line Rd. and 157 when he or she spotted the body of 22-year-old Anthony Conners lying in a water-filled ditch.
A coroner responded to the scene to determine the exact cause of death. Investigators said preliminary reports indicate Conners was the victim of a hit-and-run wreck. They were awaiting autopsy results to determine his exact cause of death.
Police said Conners was found fully clothed with no evidence of a vehicle or belongings nearby.
Authorities initially said it appeared as if this body had been there approximately two or three days.
Connors was last seen at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of a Burger King restaurant located at Bluff Road and Beltline Road. His body was located approximately 200 yards east of there.
Police said they are currently looking for a 2004 to 2008 Ford truck or SUV with possible front-end damage.
