Shooting on Hammett Pl.
(KMOV.com) – Police are investigating a shooting that took place late Friday night in north St. Louis City.
According to police, officers responded to a call around 10:15 p.m. in the 4700 block of Hammett Place. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 20-year-old black male in the street with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police say they discovered a large quantity of what they believe to be narcotics in the man’s pockets. Police, also, discovered a gun near the man at the scene.
The gunshot-victim, 20-year-old De'Angelo Burgess, was taken to a local hospital, but later died.
Upon further investigation of the scene, police spoke with three victims, all black males in their 20s.The men told police that they were approached by the gunshot-victim and several others with guns. The men told police they ran from the area before hearing any gunshots. The men were not injured in the incident.
Suspect descriptions have not been made available. The investigation is ongoing.
