(KMOV) – A woman was arrested in Madison County for allegedly driving under the influence and was involved in a hit-and-run accident on New Year’s Eve.

Tamara Thrash, 33, is accused of hitting a parked car on the 1400 block of Third Street in Cottage Hill before fleeing

“When the deputy tried to place her under arrest she began to pull away from kick and fight with the deputy,” said Captain William Dimitroff with Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies say Thrash also failed a field sobriety test and was booked on misdemeanor DUI charges.

Her case did not meet felony requirements.

“When certain circumstances are present it can be elevated to a felony for example if someone is injured as a result of the traffic crash,” said Captain Dimitroff.

Despite charges of resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident, Thrash was given a $200 bond and was later released.

“The traffic charges in the state of Illinois are kind of lumped together and she also had the hundred dollar charge for resisting a peace officer that's why the bond was so low,” said Captain Dimitroff.
