(KMOV.com) -- Indianapolis police say a camper from Chesterfield, Mo. was among the 3 children injured when lightning struck a summer camp on the north side of the city.

The strike hit the Goldman Union Camp Institute, a Reform Jewish camp in the 9300 block of Moore Road.

Officials were called to the scene around 1:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon as thunderstorms rolled through the area. By the time they arrived, camp counselors had begun "lifesaving efforts," according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report.

A 9-year-old from Missouri, a 9-year-old boy from Kentucky, and a 12-year-old boy from Ohio were among the injured.

Two children were taken to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health. The third, who was in critical condition, was taken to St. Vincent Hospital. It's not clear from police reports which child is in critical condition.

Police said that the camp has more than 100 children.
