KIRKWOOD, Mo. (KMOV) – The son of the Kirkwood finance director pleaded guilty Tuesday to the 2010 sexual assault of a female neighbor.
Sean Adams, 19, was charged in October, 2010 with burglary, assault, forcible rape, forcible sodomy, and armed criminal action. Adams is the son of Kirkwood’s Finance Director, John Adams.
He pleaded guilty to armed sexual assault Tuesday. His sentencing is set for September 6.
Authorities said Adams entered the victim’s home through an unlocked back door on Harrison around 1:30 a.m. on October 7, 2010.
The victim woke up to Adams allegedly wearing a ski mask and armed with a knife. She was assaulted and suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Adams’ intent was to burglarize the home and harm the female homeowner.
Authorities said Adams may have jogged in the area and observed the victim’s patterns. They used dogs to track him down at his residence, which was not far from the victim.
The victim was in her 50’s and lived alone.
