(KMOV)—An Illinois mother is taking on an entire police department after she claimed an officer went too far and severely injured her.

Cassandra Feuerstein was arrested on suspicious of DUI in Skokie.

Surveillance video taken from the jail showed her cooperating with a pat down and screening processes. But when she was taken to a jail cell, she said an officer shoved her into a cell, sending her flying face first into a concrete bench.

She said because of the incident, she had to have facial reconstructive surgery.

“I hit a concrete bench, which shattered my orbital bone, broke my orbital floor; both shattered and pushed in my cheek bone,” said Feuerstein.

Feuerstein filed a federal lawsuit against the Village of Skokie and the officer.

The Skokie Police Department is not commenting on the case.
