(KMOV) -- Illinois schools are running out of time to apply for grants to improve school security.

Public schools, colleges, and universities have until March 14th to apply to the Emergency Management Office which will award $25 million to schools.

Institutions can use the money for things like reinforced doors, locks, and shatter-proof glass.
