(KMOV.com) – Gun owners in Illinois can begin applying for a concealed carry license starting Sunday.

Applicants must meet all the requirements which include a valid FOID card, 16 hours of concealed carry training and electronic copies of several documents.

State police officers tell News 4 that it will take several weeks to process all applications and perform background checks. The earliest they expect someone to be able to legally carry in Illinois is April.
