PAGEDALE, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Highway Patrol officers have captured a suspect and vehicle in connection to a hit-and-run collision that left one child dead and his brother in serious condition, according to police.
Rickey Weeden, 54, was arrested at a friend's house in Ferguson around 4 p.m. Sunday. Highway Patrol officials say Weeden's vehicle was located in St. Louis City on Saturday.
On Friday night, four-year-old Trayeshon Williams and 10-year-old Jayshard Conner were crossing St. Charles Rock Road to buy crackers from a gas station when they were hit by a truck. The boys were transported to Children's Hospital, where Trayeshon later died.
Friends of the family say Jayshard suffered multiple broken bones in the collision. His health appeared to be improving Saturday, but he was upgraded to serious condition on Sunday.
Police say Weeden will be held in county jail pending felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident.
Information broadcast on police scanners described the suspect vehicle as a light silver or white 2004 Chevrolet Silverado with a silver toolbox in the bed of the truck.
On Monday, police plan to inspect the vehicle and file charges against Weeden.
