(KMOV.com) -- Governor Nixon came to St. Louis to sign the bill that would give Boeing huge incentives to build the 777 in the city.
The governor signed the legislation at the Science Center Planetarium, in front of the Mercury space capsule.
The state is now offering Boeing up to $1.7 billion in incentives over 20 years for a project that could create up to 8,000 jobs.
“This set of proper incentives are a taxpayer sensitive but appropriate way for us to defray the cost of this significant investment for our state and our nation to continue to compete worldwide,” Nixon said.
Boeing will decide between locations in a dozen or so states, by mid to late January.
