(KMOV) – Federal agents say they have broken up a large synthetic drug network that was operating throughout the St Louis Metropolitan area.
Raids were carried out at locations in St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Lincoln County and Jefferson County on Wednesday.
Agents from the DEA, IRS and immigration were involved in the operation, which they say involved the manufacture, packaging and distribution of the illegal substances.
The manufactured marijuana has been identified as being the second-most popular illegal drug among high school students.
The DEA told News 4, the materials to make the drug were being smuggled in from Asia.
