(KMOV.com) – The FBI detained an East St. Louis detective Tuesday. Longtime officer Orlando Ward is being held by the FBI for reasons only known to federal agents.
According to a city spokesperson, Ward left the office at 2 p.m. Tuesday after agents asked him to come to the federal building. That was the last any officials heard until 6 p.m. Tuesday night when the FBI called and asked the city to collect Ward’s police car off their lot.
There is no further information about Ward’s status or for what possible crimes he’s being investigated.
If ward is charged with a crime, the spokesperson says the city is very concerned as Ward has been a key investigator in many high profile criminal cases including a number of murders. Officials are concerned about how a criminal conviction or charge would affect those cases.
